This list is an ongoing project, where I am compiling modern paranormal and mythical cases from various sources. The hope is that you can use it to get the basic information a subject, as well as find sources where you can get more information. This list is updated regularly, as I’m continually working on adding in new cases, and updating old ones.

Listing are alphabetical, with numeric entries at the end. Included at the end of each entry are notes about activity, location, media source, and investigators, as well as my personal notes if they apply.

Dybbuk, Dibbuk - A malevolent spirit (usually a demon, but it can also be a dead person that refuses to move on) in Jewish folklore, which aims to possess humans. Modern accounts often referred to them as being trapped in boxes (original/best known story involves a wine box/chest). Opening such boxes is believed to release the spirit, which can result in all sorts of haunting activity (usually demonic), including illness and night terrors. The boxes are said to be cleansed through burial and time, as the earth draws the dybbuk powers away, likewise handling, moving, and buying/selling the box is said to increase the dybbuk's power. Some skeptics believe the haunting are psychosomatic, with the tales of haunting being passed on from one owner to the next.

- The best known of these boxes (a wine chest) originated in Poland, and eventually wound up in an antique store in Portland, Oregon. The shop owner (Kevin) bought an old wine cabinet in an estate sale (in 2001), not realizing its the source of the haunting he tries to give it to his mom (who has a stroke and writes, “no gift, hate gift”), and his brother (who returns it, saying it smells bad), then takes it home (where everyone has the same nightmare). From there he is able to sell it to a college student in Missouri. Who passes it onto a medical museum curator (Jason Haxton in Kirksville, Missouri) after his roommates complain. Jason tracks down Kevin, wondering if Kevin had lied about the boxes past owner (because his grandmother was the right age and ethnicity). Kevin agrees to help him look further into the box's origins, and learns from Sophie that the women had been involved in a series of séances, in which they try to trap the demon (on Nov 10 1938 - Kristallnacht, causing Sophie to believe it cause the Holocaust - and Jason would later find eugenics pretty much started in his hometown). Sophie later manages to trap it in the wine box, though the power is not fully contained. Jason builds an ark of acacia wood and lines it with gold, to contain the dybbuk's power. An alternate version of the story says the women summoned the demon into the box to protect themselves from the holocaust, and that the Haxtons tried burying the box, but it caused a sink hole, so they reburied it inside the ark and a military box (at an isolated farmhouse). Around 2014 he and his son (Ross) dug it up to be tested for radiation and toxicity. None was found, and the box was reburied. Activity includes; physical aliments (stabbing pains, headaches, bloody eyes, vision problems, choking, welts, strokes), thrown and smashed objects, electrical disturbances, communication device malfunctions, gates locking themselves, heavy foul odors (like cat pee) alternating with pleasant ones (like jasmine), shared nightmares (walking with a loved one, who turns into a hag and beats them), the box's doors opening on their own, a pulsating sensation from the box, cold spots, shadow figures, and black flame-like mists.

- There is speculation that it is not the details of ritual itself, but the focus details create that makes such activities work.

Joseph Moore arrives on the island to relive one of the men, but finds no one there, but no sign of anything else wrong, and is terrified. Superintendent Robert Muirhead goes to investigate and finds no logs after the 15th of the December, and assumes they where washed off the island by a massive wave (110 ft) while securing equipment for a storm. However MacArthur's wet weather gear was still on it's peg. Some believe it may have been some sort of sea monster, such as Kelpies, Shonies, Blue Men of the Minch, the Stronsay Beast, or even Nessie.

- Moore's son said his father had a premonition of the men's death. A dream in which he saw a campfire, but it wasn't there when he went to it. He believed the spirits of Lusbirdan (a race of small men) may have been responsible, and that the island and all on it are cursed. The foreman died during construction, and another keeper died shortly after the first three disappeared.

- An alternative theory suggest that MacArthur may have killed the other two. But no blood or murder weapon was found. Another theory suggests Muirhead deliberately hid evidence, given that someone was always supposed to say in the lighthouse, and he claimed they all must have gone outside.

A nearby navel ship rushes to the location of a falling fireball (presumed to be the Mariner), and finds only an oil slick on the ocean surface. - The flight leader (Commander Taylor) asked to be excused that morning, but could not give a sufficient reason, and his request was denied. Possibly, he knew he was having bouts of disorientation. One of the students did not fly that day due to a bad feeling about the flight.

In 2014 Tania Grien was chased by a Anesson Joseph, who was displaying similar behavior, and her brother Tony interfered and fought the man, stabbing him with a box-cutter. The automatic gate pinned Tony, but their father came out an fought him until he ran off. He tried to follow him, but the police got to him first. His toxicology report also came up clear.
